[SHORT STORY] Jonathan Hoyle has been a war photographer in some of the world's most troubled places, but it is in London, the night before a retrospective of his life's work, that he is taken off the street by an armed man. Hoyle is about to learn that his photographs were not without consequences, and whether he survives the night will depend on what exactly he witnessed through his camera's unflinching eye. This short story was first published in Robert Randisi's "Greatest Hits" anthology in November, 2005. It subsequently appeared in "Best British Mysteries" and was short-listed for the CWA Short Story Dagger.

The depth of thought and emotion Mr. Wignall brings in his writing imbeds itself into your subconscious, and you find yourself thinking about it for days, sometimes even longer. The "Who is Conrad Hurst" novel was superb. I find my self thinking about it often - it haunts me as I look at other persons around me, and I wonder who they are, where have then been, what do they do, and how do they love each other? I love his books. Perhaps it is the nonchalant way that the characters handle death. But that is just a blind, concealing the real meanings of the books, and how they actually approach death as the ultimate mystery. Fascinating. I recommend all of his books. They will make you think, and they will stick with you, and require more reading in the future!! Please keep writing Mr. Wignall, I try to read your stories when they are released.Product details

Retrospective edition by Kevin Wignall Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Love everything from this author. I really like the way he portrays his characters and makes them so real to us.
Well written. Actually has a plot and an ending. Well edited. Great characters. Believable. Should be on your buy list.
This book (short story) was wonderful, assuming one likes action thrillers.
The only reason I don't give it five stars is because the author uses poor grammar. This is not the only mistake, but it is by far the most common it is not "try and go," but, rather, "try to go." Perhaps this is a pet peeve of mine, but it really bugs me! It's one thing to use this incorrectly in every-day speech - we all do - but to write it incorrectly is, in my opinion, unforgivable for someone who ought to know language and it's meaning.
That said, I have read everything Kevin Wignall has written that is available from and will read anything else he writes or has written that becomes available on . His writing is terse and his stories tense. He also makes you think, which I like. But, he doesn't feed you the answers to the questions he provokes, which I also like.
He has another book coming out on in July, I think, and I'm definitely going to buy and read that one as soon as it is available.
